Katie Davis Majors by Gianna

Katie Davis Majors, at the age of 18, went to Uganda over Christmas break on a short mission trip. When she got there it was like if you were at a party, and when someone says it is time to go, you ask for more time and more time. How Katie can relate to this is when she met the people of Uganda, she felt so close to them while serving the poor. But when her time was up, she didn’t want to go. So, she got more time.

Very soon, she became “Auntie Katie.” And then she became Mommy. Her first Ugandan children were Agnes, Mary, and Scovia. It was a stormy night. Katie had met them through a tragedy that happened when their house fell on their sister, Agnes. Agnes was their caregiver, leader, and more. A neighbor took her to a hospital. As they headed home that day Katie asked about Agnes’s sisters. They went to check on them and found them at home. They took them to their house for lunch, which turned into dinner, which turned into bath time, which turned into a sleepover. Soon Katie adopted them.

Now I have now told you some of her first book, Kisses from Katie. Kisses from Katie is about her adopting 13 Ugandian children by the time she was 23. Daring to Hope is her second book. We just recently read it, and it’s really good. It’s about when all of her friends were dying, and her questioning, "Is God really good? Does He really love us?” I highly recommend reading it. Personally, I like the second one better than the first. I hope someday I can be a foreign missionary like Katie.
