Missionary Disciples and Miracles (and Vicious Doggies) by Cameron
When we first got here to Costa Rica last April, we met a boy a little older than me that was friends with the other missionaries here. He was fun, Catholic, and even spoke English. His name was Joshua Fabricio. He was living a good life. He had friends, good health, and was happy.
But, one day when he was at the doctor, they told him the shocking news that he had cancer. They didn't know how much longer he would have to live.
He went home, and fell into a state of depression. He didn't want to go to Mass, go out with friends, or even leave the house. He figured that if he was going to die, he might as well just not do anything.
During this time, while we were all praying for him, some of the missionaries here talked to him about it. They told him that God would have the last word, and that His will would be done, and he should go on living his normal life.
After taking all this into consideration, it flipped a switch in Fabricio. He started going to Mass more, being with the missionaries more, and growing deeper in his faith.
And then a miracle happened! He found out that the doctors had been wrong! What he had was something much smaller that does affect him, but not to the level of cancer.
Fabricio shared all of this during our last mission trip in a meaningful testimony that brought my mom and others to tears. Even more so when he announced his desire for his life and his future now is to use his hands to serve the Lord - as a doctor or a missionary.
It is amazing to see how the various FMC missionaries that have come and gone over the past five years have impacted Fabricio's life, and how he has impacted ours.
He was a huge help with the last mission trip here and even became a translator. He has such a great witness to all the other kids here as well.
He really wants to learn guitar, especially for his mission, and I have been able to give him a couple lessons so far. He is always ready and willing to spread the love of Christ!
We are even already making plans to walk the 90+ pilgrimage for the feast of Our Lady of the Angels, which is the biggest Costa Rican pilgrimage, in August!
Please pray for Fabricio not only for his health, but really for his mission. He has such a great missionary influence, especially because he is a local here. Whether missionaries are at this post or not, he will be able to make disciples of his fellow Ticos to spread the love of Christ!
God Bless!

P.S. Now, you are probably wondering about the vicious doggies. Chances are, you only read the post to get to the vicious doggies. I understand.
A couple days ago, Fabricio and I went on a 5-10ish mile bike ride to a really pretty river. On the way there, there was a certain, rather hectic 100ft stretch where we were jumped by the forementioned "doggies." Unfortunately, when I decided to videotape on the way back, it was not nearly as frenzied and hectic as before, but it still was a bit. Especially the part where I partially fall of my bike and become prey to the doggies.
Interested? I figured. Here's the video:
