Finding God in the Ozark Mountains by Autumn
Hello,
This is Autumn. Last week we were privileged to go on a camping trip at Echo Bluff State Park. It was a new experience as we learned how to saw logs for firewood, cook with cast iron over a fire, and sleep in a tent when it is cold at night. We had many fun experiences together as a family, but I mainly want to focus in this post on how we were able to connect with God through nature. Being up in the Ozark mountains, the view was amazing and we set a lot of quiet time aside in our days to read scripture, pray, and relax in God's presence at various views. Here are some pictures and a few quotes that I thought would be appropriate:
This was our campsite
"We can pray perfectly when we are out in the mountains or on a lake and we feel at one with nature. Nature speaks for us or rather speaks to us. We pray perfectly." - St. Pope John Paul II
Round Spring
"The animals of God's creation inhabit the skies, the earth, and the sea and have a part in human life. We, therefore, invoke God's blessing on these animals over all the creatures of the earth." - St. Francis of Assisi
Here we are observing the wild horses
"The higher we go, the better we can hear the voice of Christ" - Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati
This is the bluff top pavilion where we had a desert day
I hope that this post inspires you to go out into nature while the weather is still nice and spend some time relaxing and reflecting.
God Bless,
Autumn
