Our Last Days in Belize by Cameron

Hi! In this blogpost, I wanted to tell you about our last days in Belize. Autumn had been having some throat problems, and had been pretty sick (including a fever and a rash all over her body) for the past two weeks. So, after prayer and family discernment, we decided to go back to the states two weeks earlier than planned, as Autumn was not showing improvement, and flights were going up by the hour. Here is a day-by-day of our last few days in Belize:

Friday (before Holy Week): We packed up, made transportation arrangements, did our last Stations of the Cross at the park, and just prepared ourselves to leave the country.

Saturday: Mom and Carson went on a hike/retreat with the church youth group. Gianna and I stayed and chilled with the improvingly sick Autumn. Then we went to our friends' house for a playdate.

Sunday: We woke up, went to Palm Sunday Mass with a big procession around the block and by the sea. Then, we lead some praise and worship during adoration which was pretty beautiful. A lady from the radio station asked to interview us on Monday. Afterwards, we had a family that we grew very close to come over for an Italian feast and to say goodbye (the mom used to live in Italy, so we had promised to cook Italian for her before we left). I caught some iggles (see previous posts) that night and brought them in to the house, but Carson brought them back outside because I still think they're creepy.

Monday: We woke up early, completely finished packing, went to 6:15 am Mass, and headed to the radio station, but our interviewer wasn't there, so we went back to the church. We then moved our luggage to a working van, and then went back to the radio station to get interviewed. Afterwards, we headed to the airport. Then, we checked our bags (after finding out that we needed to switch clothes around because our bags were overweight by 16 pounds). Pro tip: always remember to bring an extra empty backpack in the bottom of your bag in case this happens to you.

Then we went to our friends' airport restaurant, where they treated us to amazing food that they already had ready for us. After Immigration, we headed to our three-hour flight to Dallas, Texas. We arrived in Dallas at about 5:00 pm, and expected to fly out to Fort Walton Beach, Florida around 9:00 pm. It ended up being delayed to 10:00 pm, and again delayed to 11:00 pm, and then again 10:30 pm (I didn't understand it either). After the long layover, we had a lot of turbulence on the flight. We arrived in Florida around 12:15am on

Tuesday: Morning and got picked up by my older brother at the airport. Upon arriving at his apartment, I proceeded to sleep until 10:30 that morning (there was a time change, so don't judge). :-)

Thank you all so much for reading this blogpost. We are so grateful for all the love, support, and genorosity of the people of Belize, so thank you so much all you Belizians reading! We're not really sure how long we will be here in Florida, but we will for sure be doing a discernment week/weekend here to discern if we want to go to Belize for a longer period of time, and multiple other things concerning our family.

God bless and have a blessed Easter!
