Updates Vol. 2 by Carson
Well, it’s been almost exactly a year since writing my last blogpost on family updates, so it seems appropriate to write one now! Big changes are coming, keep reading to see what!
First, some small updates. In the last updates blogpost I said that I was going to probably either graduate high school (early) in 2023 or 2024. No, I haven’t graduated yet, though I‘m planning to next year. Plus, God has put no desire on my heart whatsoever to go to college as of right now, so I won’t have to worry about any of that unless I decide to learn a trade or go to seminary. In addition, as you saw in one of my posts a bit ago (remember the farting toilet?), you’ll remember that we attended a Missionary Discernment Retreat back in October.
Now here come’s the big update: Family Missions Company has accepted us into Intake (missionary training) 2024, and we have discerned to move forward with this! This is a 2-3 year commitment. What does this mean for us? Here’s a rough timeline:
Now to September 2024: Readiness assessment testing, fundraising, online calls with FMC.
September 2024: We move to Louisiana to start Missionary training in Abbeville.
March 2025: Commissioning Ceremony at Louisiana Mission base. From here we would move to our mission post to serve for two years.
This is just a rough outline, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any changes.
Autumn is currently feeling called to stay in Missouri to continue college classes. She is open to joining us at any time if that's what God's plan for her is, and in the meantime will probably be visiting us often.
FMC has been very flexible with lots of possibilities for me. If I discern that God is calling me at any time to leave the mission field and discern seminary, trade school, NET ministries, or anything else, I will be able to do that.
In conclusion, this is quite a bit of information to those of you who didn’t know this news! If you have any questions I’ll be happy to answer them as best as I can. We're also planning on doing a FAQ post soon that will hopefully answer some of your questions. In the meantime, please keep us in your prayers as we move forward with these big changes as we'll be praying for you!
God Bless,
Carson!
