Youth Ministry with Mission Don Bosco by Cameron

Hi! In this blogpost, I'm going to tell you a little bit about Mission Don Bosco, and some ministry that we've done with it recently.

Mission Don Bosco is composed of two awesome Costa Rican FMC missionaries. Their names are Pablo and Yalile (they're a married couple). They are super on fire for Our Lord, and their ministry, after many years of prayer, has really taken off recently with the youth in our part of Costa Rica. And, as St. John Bosco worked with the youth of Italy, they decided to name their ministry after him. They go to different schools with kids anywhere from first grade to high school. When there they will pray, sing alabanzas (spanish praise songs) and give testimonies.

The youth that St. John Bosco helped were poor and orphaned boys (usually living on the streets and working in factories with terrible conditions). The youth that Mission Don Bosco ministers to (though they are able to go to school and have homes) are often times physically and spiritually poor as well. Pablo and Yalile have been doing and amazing job feeding and nourishing the spiritual lives of the youth through their ministry.

So, a couple weeks ago, they invited us to minister with them at a high school about an hour away from us. We went, and it was really amazing! We first had a group of the high schoolers, and in the afternoon we had all the staff and teachers. I was able to help Pablo with the music, as well as leading some songs myself. Mom, Gianna, and I lead a really active Spanish dinamica (praise song with actions) that we had learned from some other FMC missionaries, which was fun. Pablo did a really amazing job with the testimonies and prayer, and is a powerful speaker. The whole campus was really cool too and had native plants and flowers everywhere.

All in all, I'm inspired by the missionary spirit that emits from Mission Don Bosco. I really see the need to work with the youth here being a youth myself, and I think it's really awesome that they are specializing in that in particular. That being said, please pray for Mission Don Bosco as they continue to spread the love of Christ!

God bless,

Cameron
